[View the UN Report on the Meeting here]
The Thirty-third Session of the United Nations (UN) Sub-Committee of
Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods was held in Geneva from 30
June to 9 July 2008. This was the third of a total of four sessions of
the Sub-Committee to be held in the 2007/2008 biennium. The
Sub-Committee considered many issues and proposals - some in detail and
others with far-reaching implications. A number of amendments to the UN
Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods (“the UN
Recommendations” or “the Model Regulations”) were adopted. As is
always the case, consideration of many of the unresolved issues is
expected to be resumed at the December session of the Sub-Committee -
which will be the final opportunity for the Sub-Committee to include
amendments into the next edition of the UN Model Regulations to be
published in mid-2009. This summary is intended to outline the
Sub-Committee's discussions and decisions in connection with some of
the more significant items on its agenda. This article, in its entirety, is archived in HAZMAT Packager & Shipper's HazMat Database, an optional feature to subscribers. Information on obtaining a subscription to HAZMAT Packager & Shipper and its associated features can be found here. |
